welcome back.

We are pretty lucky in the Uk that we still have loads of places for dogs to go off lead. Don't know about hunting, I think it's a more popular hobby in the US than over here.

Hiya, we don't really have dog parks as such but I live in a more rural area and when I go into a city, now and then, I take the dog. Where I am most dogs get daily freedom off lead, somewhere and when we go to the fenced in parks in Edinburgh, there is a huge difference, in one visit my dog was accosted by a Westie and then pounced on by a NI, in the space of about 5-10 mins, so I suppose thats the closest we have to dog parks?

Pro's - far too much traffic to let them play in a street, shared garden etc so at least they have somewhere to play, run.

Con's - a lot of dogs in one area, a lot of them seem a bit under exercised (I said a lot, not all) it does seem a bit chaotic.

My dog has been socialised from a pup and gets on well with other dogs so the Westie didn't get a reaction (no fight) and the NI eventually convinced him to play a little, so for me its not really a problem. If your dogs hadn't been socialised or trained at all, or are not tolerant of other dogs then I would think an actual specific dog park could 'end in tears'

I'm not saying they are a bad thing, after all we don't have them, so I don't know, but I think I would be a little wary at first.
