Puppy classes??

I am planning to join the APDT's pretty soon and quite alot they seem to be asking of details of classes that I already run
so
Question is
Would it be a good or a bad idea if I were to run a little puppy class - just for a nominal fee to cover costs

I have ideas of things I would like to teach (is there a sylabus anywhere) and have already looked into how much insurance and everything would be
Of course I would need to find a venue

Who on here has done something like this?? - am I just being daft and should get the idea right out of my mind??

I am not APDT so I am not sure about thier requirements.

BUT...puppy classes are great fun. If you can find a venue I would say go for it.

I run 3 puppy classes a week, with between 4-6 pups in each, I do 6 week courses in which we cover Watch/Leave/positions/stay/recall/loose lead walking/Instant downs.

We also talk about basic stages/learning theory and what to expect or continue with from the pups.

I make sure everyone who comes has my contact details so that if they do feel they can talk to me in class they can call me at home and offer full back up as long as they have the dog.

I am insured with PBI and am on the KCAI scheme.

Good luck with your plans.

Thankyou so much
I was expecting howls of protest saying I shouldnt do it
Kinda a bit excited about the idea now!
I know a venue is going to be a problem - but planning will be fun!
