How cute!! I love the one ear up and one ear down pic. And the puppy
pic is too precious.

Just curious, does your 15 year old have any other health issues beside
deafness? My dog is going to be 10 in a couple of months and I'm concerned
about the aging process. You must be doing a great job for him to be
alive at 15. Do you have any tips?

Hi there, No real tips other than lots of TLC which includes the common sense things such as good diet (apppropriate to age and circumstances i.e. level of activity), lots of attention, walks, play time, training time and plently of stimulation the rest of the time, as bored dogs lead to depressed and or behavioural problems. General common sense health checks, grooming clipping, worming, flea & tick prevention, regular ear cleaning (to prevent mites or any foreign bodies getting trapped in the ears. Clean eyes regularly, depending on breed (some dogs have very small or no tear ducts and in this case they may need doing a number of times daily). Make sure all innoculations needed are given. Sounds quite a bit but it's only really common sense - just think how you would feel in your dog's place ? We all like to be fed properly, clean (well most of us) have companionship, challenges and things to stimulate us. With regard to Flex - his eye sight is now starting to worsen slightly (monitoring it) but, apart from his deafness he is as fit as a fiddle. I wouldn't worry too much about your dogs impending old age as long as you are doing these things if your dog looks fit and healthy, then he probably is. Hope this helps and thanks for your kind comments.

Meganrose;

Thanks for the advice. I do everything you mentioned plus more!! She
goes to the vet regularly, goes for loooooong walks everyday, I cook her
dinner everynight with a ton of vegetables and brown rice. She takes
vitamins. I have her on meds for her hip dysplasia. And last, but not
least, she gets so much attention and so many hugs and kisses, she
actually gets annoyed at times. She is a very spoiled girl, indeed.
And I better have her until she's at least 20!!
And I hope you have Flex for many more years.
Your dogs are all beautiful.
