A future ex-pat Yanks' questions about the Dangerous Dog Act

Hello!

I'm most likely going to be moving to Northern Ireland in the not too distant future, and I was heartbroken to hear about the Dangerous Dog Act...

I have what you would call a "bull beagle" which I adopted from the pound. I have no clue what his parentage is, but there is some bully breed in his background because he is a stocky little guy with a brindle coat. Otherwise he looks more like a beagle/spaniel mix.

However, I heard about the Dangerous Dog Act which bans the pit bull "type", and now I'm worried that he might fall under this ban

This will break my heart. A couple of weeks ago this dog was literally being terrorized by an 8 week old Lhasa mix. He is an extremely gentle little guy, and would be a danger to no one.

The only things about him that are pit bullish are his stocky body and his color. He is only 14 inches high and weighs about 35 lbs.

Is there any hope?

Sheryl

Here's another picture...actually I don't think he looks much like a pit either. But I think he may have some bulldoggish breed...

Do you think that law will ever be repealed? Does it still have a big effect on people in the UK?
