Yeah ive seen the short haired ones go for £1500 but not long haired because they are twice as many registered each year.
Black and tan ones are very hard to get hold of, ive only ever seen one.

I find it so sad that people pay these high prices for dogs when there are so many good dogs and pups in shelters.

Because there aren't always the ones people want in rescue. I know some people buy on a whim etc, especially the crosses but genuine pure bred dogs are not normally in general rescue.

I know how expensive they are as i wanted one before we got minnie. Its true that they r more expensive these days due to paris hilton and britney. we had to go for a chihuahua cross in the end but so glad we did! mind you they are still charging up to £600 just for a "designer dog" which is in effect a cross!

On a well known website for puppies there are a couple of smooth coat pups on for £2000. The breeders will sell at the price the market will pay I suppose. But I must admit the expression 'more money than sense' springs to mind.

Is it true that chihauhua's always have to have their pups delivered by section? I suppose that must considerably put up the price.

But why are Bulldogs so expensive there are several of them up for £2000 as well?

I think the reason Bulldogs are so expensive is because they mostly have to have caesarean's and their litters are only small.

I don't know if this might contribute to Chihuahua's and why they're so expensive though.
