I now doubt any of your dogs would have been a 'challenge' to a decent committed trainer/owner.

For anyone reading this Blog but not acquainted with Ben’s history I suggest they read the thread below to get an idea of any training methods which may or may not have been tried on this abused rescue dog before his new owner resorted to the use of electric shocks to train him.

Im actually surprised, this blog is allowed to be honest. Especially when self moderating is allowed.

It was Azz himself who suggested I start my own blog.

So there !!

Take it up with him, don't come on MY blog bitching about it, do something about it if you don't like it!

Or best still - JUST DON'T READ IT!!

That's your choice, no-one is forcing you y'know

Rune:

A little birdy told me that you are a dog trainer, and that you live in the west country. As you are so convinced that Ben is so easy, why don't we meet up next time we are on holiday. Then you can see for yourself what a challenge a wolf cross can be!

Ben is a low % - his mum was from the Blustag lines - Lynne Sharkey - Hal, dad, was not the 75% claimed by Eddy, I would say working on the knowledge I now have re his pedigree that he was more like 50% - his father, Natuk, was a known 75%, but his mum Saska or Sacha was much less, whichever bitch it was. Let's say the dam was 25%, then that would make Hal 50%. The point is that the %'s are not the whole story, it is how each generation have been brought up. In Hal's lineage, apart from the original 2 wolves (his great great grandparents), the dogs were all pets, living in homes, that makes a lot of difference.

I know of a wolf cross CWD (dam = 100% wolf, father = CWD), who was completely wild and untamable in a domestic situation, but one of his siblings who had gone into a domestic situation at only 3 weeks, was well socialised and although aloof, no more nervous than a well socialised Saarloos.

Unfortunately I cannot raise Hal from the dead, but you can do second best and meet up with his son, who I would say is 50% easier overall than his dad, but still a git!!

And before I am pounced on, I only EVER call horses or dogs gits who I love!! aka my beautiful Dutch Warmblood, Bugle, or Hal !

I know....

I meant that now you have this 'new' information, you know that she lied to you, even when you thought she had told you the truth.
Says it all.
Anyways - this is about his training progress, not his unknown makeup.

Give it a rest Tupacs, it's intensely boring.

WHEN you have met my dogs, THEN you can comment, but not until. NEVER judge a book by its cover. Actually, I think Ben looks more wolfy than Hal. Luckily for us Hal, did not look very wolfy at all, except for his tiny ears which were a bit of a give-away. the NI's, Utes, Saarloos, CSV's all tend to have very large ears, which is what happens when the genes are shuffled up, but Hal had true wolf ears, small, heavily-furred and well-shaped. Which is how we managed to keep him safe for 10 years before the ban was lifted. But there was no fooling the experts - including the Wolf Trust
