As my hubby (a farmers son) always says, there are plenty of people in the churchyard who would like to smell the country

There are some fab views here, I wonder do you think we really appreciate our surroundings?
I'm lucky I've got country one side and sea the other

That first picture has taken me back well over 60 years...

Wistful sighs of remembrance...

Makes me chuckle when people round here complain when the farms are muck spreading or when its harvest time and they want to walk through the fields with their dogs and theres combines working.Although i live in a town its semi rural and im only 5 minutes away from open countryside so never too far away.

Its 80% cereal crops grown here and 20% livestock.

i like that smell ive grown up around it though so i dont mind any country smells

you know you live in the country when you always have to add extra time on your journey plans because farmers are swapping cows or sheep to another field and they cross the road with them all

you know you live in the country when it snows so much and you cant get anywhere, and the nearest shop is 15 minutes drive away

you know you live in the country when you wake up to birds singing and twittering away and not cars or people

you know you live in the country when youre only source of heating is the coal fire, and a decent jumper, people who love their central heating are called nesh

you know you live in the country when you get to open your front door and see this:

and you go out of your back door and get this:

ahhh i love the country

You know you live in the country when ...

You are married to a hill shepherd and your house is here (white dot in distance!)
