Caring for my Orchid?

Meet Orla my orchid( Mother's Day pressie )
Thing is I'm not wonderful with house plants,I tend to spoil them I think Would really like to do well with this one.Had a look online at how to care for her but was wondering if any of you green fingered peeps had any special tips

No I've managed to kill every one I've ever had. Shame because they're lovely.

They are Hopefully we'll get some great tips and you'll be able to treat yourself to one I want to buy another few but not Untill I know the rules!!

I always end up with a lovely collection of bare twigs

Not sure if I killed the only ever had one [was sent by a friend] or whether it was in its death throes when it arrived. It was delivered with just one small flower and a few buds and I followed the instruction faithfully.

A week later the flower fell off, then one by one the buds fell off, so I telephoned the local florist who had taken the order and delivered it and was told not to worry, just leave it alone and it will develop more buds and then flowers.

It did not - all I had was a pot with a twig sticking out of it.

the trick is not to over water them, they don't need to much once a week or even longer .....

Me too, I've completely given up on houseplants, I'm useless at keeping them alive

Use cooled boiled water and as already said once a week or less, mist the aerial roots gently a couple of times a week.

They love dappled sun not full on sunny position and not no sun at all.

When they finish flowering a cooler place where they can rest and keep watering to a minimum once a fortnight will likely be enough and a few months later they will burst forth again. We have some that are 10 years old now flowering like mad at the moment and others dormant waiting their turn again.

I had a rows of glorious houseplants back in England but there my house had windowsills. Here I do not have windowsills so nowhere to put any.
