Slow Cooker Query

I'm hoping someone can help me out with a slow-cooker query!!

I've just prepped a beef and ale casserole to cook in the slow cooker tomorrow and normally I would put it on when i'm home at lunch on my break but then I remembered i'm not coming home for lunch tomorrow. So my question is, can I put it on in the morning on low before i go to work or is that too long if we plan to eat at about 6:30pm??

Thanks in advance!!

I use one all the time .
You can almost put something on to cook forever and not spoil it.

I wouyldn't put anything on later than the morning anyway...tastes so much better when it's been slowly cooked for longer!

I put it on at 7:45am this morning on low all day as i've not been home all day and when i got home at 5 the veg was still practically raw! So i've cranked it up to high and we may eat before 10pm if we're lucky!!

lol, oh dear

When using mine I always chuck everything in in the morning when I'm doing the kids breakfasts, put it on low until about 3 o'clock then high until serving time.

Slow cookers will tenderizing and cook meat on a lower heat.
Root vegs. need higher heat for longer and it's best to cut veg into small pieces.
So if you do a meat and veg. casserole don't worry about the meat content but you do need a higher heat to cook the veg.
I must admit I don't cook much in the way of casseroles as I prefer to use slow cooker mainly for meat.

Well you must have put all the stuff in it cold then??? You have to put HOT stuff into a slow cooker no matter what you're cooking, otherwise it'll never cook, and probably cause food poisoning by sitting in a warm temperature all day long Did you put all the stuff in there when it was really hot to start it off?
