One advantage of waterproof beds such as Tuffies that only need to be hosed off rather than risk ruining an expensive appliance!

This is what I do - Household soda crystals on a hot wash great for cleaning in the fold of the rubber door gasket. It is a problem spot for collecting dingy smelly residues.

I didn't know this either! I feel like I've been missing out on so many clothes washing secrets Must admit, I do tend to overdo the detergent so perhaps I shall go a bit easier on it from now on..

My washing machine is regularly put through a hot wash because I dye things, my washing is dried outdoors in the the fresh air. I could think of no reason for the smell.

I experimented with various washing powders and fabric softeners ,then stopped using fabric softener on towels (it is recommended you don't use it anyway, it may make them them less rough but it also prevents them being absorbent).
The smell has gone I can only assume something has recently been added to fabric softeners which under certain circumstances can make washing smell unpleasant.
That's very strange! I wonder what they've been adding to the fabric softeners then.. At least you got to the bottom of it though Otherwise you might have had to suffer years of musty jumpers

Aww bless them I think I might ask for one for Christmas! It's got to be cheaper than using the heating to dry clothes!

Hey ho, pleased your smelly washing is no longer smelly
Yes, I'm pleased too - I've been sniffing my clothes all day

Gosh, every couple days? Your washing machine cannot be happy! I must admit, I do have a tendency to slack on cleaning Molly's bed and usually just do her blankets but I can imagine it'd be murder on your washing machine if you have dogs that use their beds a lot, especially having more than one dog!

I hadn't thought of that actually! Maybe I'll try that next time and see if it works as well as the vinegar has done!

I do what Sal does every few weeks. Not had a problem since... And since I have horses the washing takes a bashing from all the dirt, hair, bedding and hay stuck on my clothes!

I forgot to add I always wash at 40, and when I give the washing machine a clean I stick it on at 90.

I noticed that with my clothes as well. But with everything. I was using Lenor Infusions - Breath of Fresh air one - Blue stuff. I had bought 2 bottles of the stuff (BOGOFF) When I realised what it probably was I stopped using it & my clothers smell OK again now. It wasnt very pleasant sleeping with that smell on the bedding either
