It's a pink magnolia Bev, it also comes in white. I will take a piccy of the white one my neighbour has on her lawn so you can compare, but personally I love the pink ones. Really, really pretty, BUT, one day of wind, and it's all gone We have a huuuuge one of these in our woods across the road, must be very old, but half the pretty leaves have gone already. I'm going to get one of these too Photo on it's way in a mo .....

Here's the white one Bev, and my neighbour told me it's taken 5 years for it to flower like this, that's a long wait!!

Take a long time to flower from new. Flowers come before it is in full leaf. Flowers don't last that long (bad weather shortening the time) and then it's a big tree (eventually) they are a beautiful sight. But I think you need a big big garden to do them justice.

I bought one of the smaller white 'starry' ones once - great disappointment compared with these fabulous big ones.

I'd better make sure I don't make the same mistake then Pat. How many varieties do these come in then, you would have thought a magnolia tree is a magnolia tree, is a magnolia tree kind of thing??? Do you have to buy one 6ft tall or something for it to be a tree and not a starry type bush then? I need to know please cos it's on my shopping list!

The Stellata is the one I tried for a small back garden. Just not the same 'sight' as the big pink ones.
