They used to sell Woodbine in packets of 5, aint seen Woodbine in years.

I can remember when sweets were rationed,

I can remeber when margarine (stork) first came on the market,

I can remeber when the local bobby kicked you up the backside.

I can remember when you got punished at school (cane or tawse).

I can remember when we had respect for our elders.

My backside still remembers the cane. LOI

When I was about 10 or so my brother a window got broke and the police caught us and marches us both back home by holding us by our ears.

When we got home my Dad gave us both a clump not for breaking the window I might add, but for us bring the police to his door step. He them took us around to the house where the window got broke and made us apologise to the owner.

I remember it very well. My daughter was born in 1971, so it's a year I'll not likely forget. Sometimes, I even convert back to old money when looking at the prices of things - just like my dad used to
