Just wondering how many members remember the old UK Currency.

For those of you who that don't know what I talking about. Prior to February 15th 1971 the British currency system was known as pounds, shillings and pence. In the system used at that time 12 pennies was equal to one shilling and 20 shillings was equal to one pound. After February 15th 1971 the UK moved to a new system called decimalisation and brought the currency into line with the metric systems used in Europe which are based on a logical system of 10 or factors of 10's. So with decimalisation came a system of pounds and pence doing away with shillings altogether.

Colin you forgot farthings, yep I'm so old I can remember those, also, we used to have silver threepenny bits up here, I've still got a few as souvenirs.

Er, what happened to Guineas, or is it just the posh folks that deal in them.

Farthings are even before my time, but your right I forgot about the threepenny bit and the sixpence bit or tanner as it was called.

God I feel old.
