Eats Poop

Has anyone stopped there dog from eating poop? And how did you do it. My dog is healthy per the vet, and always has food. Any subjestions. Thanks

Mine will sniff it.
The "leave it" command works.
I don't know if it would for yours.

I had a poop eater years ago, i tried Tobasco sauce on poop
in the garden that worked, out on a walk in public had to
muzzle her that was the only way to stop her, YUK !!

Why would you do that? Just pick the poo up and remove all temptation. It's easier to carry a poo bag than Tabasco sauce.

All I did when mine were pups was never leave any laying around and when out and about as soon as the approached it (horse poo) in our case which is easier to see I'd shout leave it and run past the offending poo. The dogs would stop in the tracks and then give chase.

If you read the post I quoted it quite clearly says they used tabasco sauce in the garden. I doubt other walkers have access to their garden.

Sometimes a change of food can help if the dog is lacking certain nutrients.

Teaching a solid 'leave' command is a given

Watch like a hawk and stop every time is the only thing that really can work as the dog eventually learns that it's a hands off (or mouth off) situation and leaving the stuff becomes habit
