Lurcher/Greyhound Collars?

Bit of a weird question but was out walking the other day and met two lovely lurchers who both had those thick collars on.

Then i was looking around online and noticed the particular site i was on had a dedicated section for lurcher/greyhound collars.

So why do greyhounds and lurchers have those thicker collars?? Is there some particular reason for it or is it just because they look right??

Hopefully you all know what i'm talking about!!

It's cause their heads are smaller than their necks, they can just walk backwards and right out of a regular collar. That and 'cause their necks are delicate there is more surface area to take the impact if they pull suddenly
