Any working news?

Our special section seems to be rather quiet at the moment.

Does anyone have any working news or photos?

I went to a good sheepdog training session last night and was supposed to take my camera, so I could share some photos on here of the type of dogs that come for training ... but then forgot my camera D'oh!

Well remember it next time! lol

No working news here really as we've finished the spring grouse counts. They went very well and the dogs all worked their socks off. Harvey, GWP, particularly had a good season and we were very pleased at how well he worked. Lucky hurt her back so was out of it for a week but luckily, we had other dogs to replace her.

At the moment, we're concentrating on training Tia and Teal. Tia needs heeling, sitting, whistle work but she is a very quick learner. Rob has been taking Pippa out with her and she is watching what she does. I have just started to do some retrieving work with Teal. She is going out and retrieving the dummy and bringing it back to hand so will push her on a bit more. She absolutely adores retrieving a tennis ball but gets bored with a dummy so not doing too much with her.

Hi All
I took Boo to his first working test yesterday. It went quite well he got 70 out of 100 which i did not think was too bad for his first one when he is only 9 months old.
His brother Chalky got 3rd place with 82 points so a good day for him.
Boo did get 19 out of 20 on the memory retrieve, just needs more confidence in the water and a bit more hunting on rougher ground he is used to the wide open flat ground in lincolnshire

That is brilliant Nicky - I bet you were really pleased with both Boo and Chalky.

What is actually required of a dog in a working test? It is not something I know very much about. Thanks.

Well done on your first working test !! I did the silly thing and entered to soon for ours and we failed with style ! Since then though we've come on in leaps and bounds, as I only have retrievers, I'd love to know what you have to do in a HPR working test

Dawn : Your right about the pigeons, they're damn everywhere here as well, keep messing on my car
