Christmas Without Your Dog

The tree is all trimmed,
The gifts are all wrapped.
The hymns are all sung
And the travel plans mapped.

And still there's a sadness
That lies in your heart
For a dog that was lost
And a love now apart.

A stocking is missing
With toys and a treat.
A lap is now empty,
A space at your feet.

Yet remember this season
The Lord's gift to you,
Those wonderful memories
To treasure life through.

Oh that's lovely Malka. It made me stop and give Fluke a cuddle and think of all the dogs I have been lucky to own. Memories are so precious.

Hello thank you for the fab poem I was having a moment this afternoon my first Christmas without Monty, how he would be underneath my feet while preparing the Christmas table and lunch, how I would have a few extra sausages put to one side for a treat on christmas day. How I will miss our morning walk. I was going to scatter his ashes on Christmas morning in the places we went walking but I am not ready to let go just yet.

So thank you for the poem will get me through.

Wishing you all a fab Christmas lots of cuddles and hugs for all enjoy enjoy your time xxxxxxx

I do not know who wrote that poem, which is why I put Anon at the end. It was in an email sent to the epi List for everyone whose pet has gone to the Bridge, with a message reminding us to give our dogs extra hugs for those we can no longer hug.

I found it very moving.

Lovely stuff

I've two massive pig's trotters for Skye and Breagh tomorrow.

Not something I'd have got them previously as Fingal would have probably just spread his all around the house LOL

Thank-you for sharing this lovely poem. It tugs at my heart strings reading it and thinking of my beloved Shadow. This is a year of firsts and the toughest I'm sure. It just shows that true love never dies, it blossoms and grow with memories.
