What Seperates the Good Breeder from the Bad?

My friends daughter (blimey that makes me sound old..., anyhow) has just bought a dog. From what I have heard about the purchase, I would say the breeder was far from a good breeder.....but is it clear cut.....

The pup was KC reg, sold at 8 weeks, no initial jabs and the breeder did not meet the buyers......

Hhhmmm, sold at 8 weeks witn no initial jabs doesn't set my alarm bells ringing...

However, not meeting the buyers is a huge problem....

8 weeks is an appropriate age for most pups
I would not buy a pup that had already been vaccinated so that is fine for me .... but not seeing the breeder???????????

I dont like the breeders not seeing the buyers... can I ask how the transaction took place?

Must admit the 8 weeks wouldn't worry me or the no jabs as this was the case with Ollie. I would be far more suspicious of not meeting the Breeder and one or other of the pups Mum or Dad and the surroundings they had been born into.

The buyers not meeting the breeder would make me think the puppy came from a puppy farm

I wouldn't want a pup vaccinated before coming home at 8 weeks as the transition can be stressful for them, I would rather they settle a little at home first...if a pup is 10+ weeks it's different.

As for the breeder and buyer not meeting..why?

I do not know where they saw the advert. I do know that they went to the breeders house. Met the grandchild, (yes child) , child shouted (upstairs) to to breeder (her grandmother ) , she shouted back which pups were the avaliable ones, they choose a pup, paid the grandchild (she must've given them the paper work) and they walked away with a puppy.
