Warning about a nasty bug.

Just thought I`d give you the heads-up on a nasty bug going round. It started in Europe and has reached the UK. My friend`s dogs had it a few weeks ago and Shamus has just got over it.
The cause is still unknown and 2 lots of vets were baffled as to what caused it with our dogs.
Symptoms: Dog is sick (once) then stops eating. There is watery diarhea. Dog is cold and lethargic - temperature is not raised.
After 2-4 days he starts passing bright red blood.
Our dogs were hospitalised, put on a drip and given antibiotic injections, then a liquid to coat the stomach, then medication (metap... something.. - could find out if needed )
Anyway - my point being, watch out for it.

Have they got a name for this bug?

This has been a problem in my area it is suspected to come from something in a few woods locally as the dogs had all been walked in similar areas, a few dogs have died but vets soon got up to speed on it, they arent sure if its from plants animal or water so no way to prevent it, just having to be cautious over where we walk and how they react.
