UK couple await birth of two clones of their dog

Can totally understand not wanting to let go.

A British couple are awaiting the arrival of two puppies due to be born over Christmas after having their dead pet cloned.

Laura Jacques and her partner, Richard Remde, from Yorkshire, are the first UK customers to employ the services of the Sooam Biotech Research Foundation, which offers a dog cloning service for $100,000 (Ł67,000) per canine.

The couple’s boxer dog, Dylan, died in June, leaving Jacques bereft. “I had had Dylan since he was a puppy,” she said. “I mothered him so much, he was my baby, my child, my entire world.”

The two puppies due to be born in the next few days will have identical DNA to Dylan, are likely to resemble him physically and share some of his personality.
Well so would most Boxers to be fair, seek out one with the same colouring as yours and Bob's your uncle. If I wanted a clone of Syd that looked like him so that's a brown Dobermann from the same lines, bring him up the same and he'd have lots of similar characteristics and would cost less than a grand not 67,000 grand.

True... but I imagine a clone would be much, much closer - almost like a twin.

but not the same and why would you want it to be? Each dog is unique and it's the very uniqueness that makes each dog special

I'm with Chris, it wouldn't be the same dog it would be a similar dog and that would just break my heart all the more. All dogs are unique and that's the beauty of them, the more variety the better for me.

Just think what all that money could have done for some rescue kennels and groups around the world!

So the first dog died of a brain tumour? I'm no Scientist but I wouldn't want to possibly put myself through that again? Not saying they are genetic but I wouldn't rest easy

I would have used the money to have the dog cryonically frozen instead

She kept the dog in her freezer for a year, that's a bit weird to say the least.
