Perhaps a good starting point is to define working dogs calmly then to decide ...
to me working dogs are ...
those Becs already mentioned involved with restraint/search/rescue.
also those involved with....
retrieval of game (including on the big shoots)
rabbiting
ratting
rounding sheep and cattle
hearing dogs
dogs for the disabled
guide dogs
PAT

Now perhaps others can also give their definition and we can move forward..

That sounds like a good start, but rabbiting and ratting would have to go cos it involves the "killing of other animals"!

I was suggesting we define what we consider to be working dogs rather than expressing am opinion..
maybe views differ and it is a starting point
