That's funny I also got into working trials from reading Joyce Stranger's Books. Came back to haunt me cos her GSD Chita did everything except the 10 mins out of sight stay and I had the same issue when I started with my younger BC! She did qualify UDX this year aged nearly 3 but we had four trials before that where she didn't even last 30 seconds in the stay before bolting to find me and passed everything else, I thought it was going to be a very LONG time before she passed the stays so was pleasantly surprised when last time she never budged, but I would hate to think of the hours and hours I spent practising stays in every situation, every agility show, unfamiliar parks etc before that trial in July.

My older BC has UDX and WDX but was getting too old by then for the jumps as I only started when she was 7 and retired her before doing TD. Good luck with your boy it is heaps of fun, hard work training and often just you and your dog out practising We live in NZ and it is a pretty uncommon sport here probably due to the time and land required for training.

Well done on your UDX - it sounds like it was very well deserved

I am really looking forward to getting started. I have a friend who has done trials with her GSD and GR and we are going to try and meet up every week or so (we have lots of land where I live) and do some training together
