my son has the link .

but had a chat with a pal about this and this is what he said ones i told him about wethersfield .

After I left the Police I was the Centre Manager at this home. I managed to forge good links with the MOD and Essex Police, who when a possible good young candidate came into the home were always willing to test and several went on to become working dogs.

Like you Jim hope that they along with the other thousands around the Country are re-homed and are given that second chance in life

Ahh, I was a volunteer at the home myself some 20 years ago, don't think your friend was there then, he must have been after me. The MOD police have a base in the village (used to be an american air base) so I wonder if they've been approached.

From what everyones said, sounds like they need specialist homes rather than the average pet home, which is why most people go there.

Hoping they get the appropriate homes soon.

If these have, indeed, come from the RSPCA seizure, then I understand most if not all of them have already been assessed for use by the services and found unsuitable.

Neither are they suitable for pet homes - and the number of specialist homes out there is in a lesser proportion to the number of dogs in their care.

very very sad...

What a sad situation. I wonder whether they would be suited to active and experienced pet homes?

Yes, my first Belgian Terv was from Belamba breeding. Her sire was the wonderful Starbright Dollars Invested at Belamba - he was gorgeous and passed on his amazing temperament and long years of life to my girl

I have a book on BSDs and was surprised to see that lots of relatives were quite worky, doing Schutzhund etc in the US, it has lots of photos in and has given me great pleasure over the years

My male Terv actually had some Malinois blood, his grandfather IIRC, again from the US.

I hope the ones in rescue all find good and suitable homes.

yes it's very sad -we've just had another two Malinois handed onto our breed rescue from West Mercia Police - they are also unsuitable as pets quite honestly I question what the Police think we can do with these dogs ? - why is it ok for them to offload their responsibility in this way and why does the breeder of these dogs think it's fine to deliberately produce dogs that are unsuitable as pets and then take NO responsibility for them when they don't make the grade as working dogs ..

....just don't get me started ........

CH Bergerac Love Kills http://baza.belgi.pl/modules/animal/...php?pedid=2496
was an influential sire back then - could he have been your boy's sire too ?.
.......
No but I've been able to find him - Bandol de la Pouroffe at Snowbourn!!!

Oh, I remember so many of those names, now! Brings back memories ....
I met Vallivue Bon Chance once - I think his pet name was Ferdie, and he loved to nick the brush out of his owner's bag

Yes Dollar was behind many Tervs at the beginning - but the American dogs were generally unlike the original continental type bred in Belgium and France and gradually as more of the continental dogs were imported the American lines died out - Marcelle King ( Belamba) stopped breeding BSD when the Kc amalgamated all four varieties ( a decision that saw the end of many kennels - now thankfully reversed ) and she is now active in Afghan Hounds.

Bandol was an incredibly influential sire - a most beautiful and typy dog imported from Belgium - he is behind most of the top kennels today.

The breeder should at the very least take responsibility, to me that is partly what breeding is about - taking dogs back if they cannot find homes!

It is unfair to offload on rescue.
