Drive sector problem

hi guys

when i boot up i get a screen that says i have a bad sector on my disc, press any button within 5 seconds to stop disc check.

i dont do this, i allow the check to continue and it tells me to system restore then goes ahead into windows as normal.

however, when i try and system restore, it says i cant do this with a bad sector in the drive!

catch22 or what!

i try and do a disc analysis and defragmentation but it wont work.
the progress bar on both flashed up for a nano second what percentage had been checked or defraged, then just stops going.

any help folks veyr much appreciated

I googled it:

http://www.datarecovery.com.sg/data_..._hard_disk.htm

Don't know if this is any help but you could try a google search and see what comes up.

Firstly, do a backup of your data to an external drive!

Then, use something like http://www.sysresccd.org/Main_Page to try to fix the disk. That's what I'd do, anyway.
