Labs are born half trained !!

Only joking, I know that they require just the same work as other gun dogs ...

Finally managed to get a look in on DW ! Have got a visitor at the moment and am now spending my days driving round doing the tour guide bit and the dogs are only getting a 20 min walk a day. Tmw though I intend to make my guest earn her keep and do some training with me !

I havent managed to contact the secretary yet, but will do this weekend, I always thought that a novice test would be a blind retrieve, with a double, and a walk up maybe. The last test we went to, did have a walk up, double marked retrieve, a blind, a jump and two other marks but onto the other side of a big hill with quite a big distance. But I think either way I will go even if I dont enter and just watch the other handlers and see what they do (and they're mistakes!).

Thanks for sharing that tale lollippy, I'm glad other people have got embarrassing tales to tell ! Come on amts you have to share yours now !!

Thanks for the advice everyone, nice to see you Wizywig !

K x

Good luck Willow, but as you say even if you dont enter never mind there is alwalys next time, and its a good idea going anyway to get the feel of what its like and you will beable to spot mistakes easier by watching and learn from them and prepare for next time, so either way you win If you do enter just think of it as a bit of fun and nothing too serious that way both you and your dog will enjoy yourself and if you feel you are ready then go for it, you never know you might even surprise yourself! Let us know how it goes

If thats so I want my money back! You get out of them what you put in

First time with the tough guys...you know the ones with a lifetime of experience and ace dogs that are all welltrained, wellbehaved I, the rookie, the only girl there and the one with so much to learn was to throw a dummy just as the rest of them. Should be easy eh?

Standing in line, throwing a dummy to take turns to mark and retrieve. Felt the pressure and noticed I was being watched closely due to the above. Face this colour and the cold sweat you know from excams when my turn was up and what happend?? I threw the dummy as high as I could and felt it on my head a few seconds later
The laughter was louder than any kennel around feeding time

Is that embarresment enough for you all? Course I have plenty more where that one came from
