Working trials question..

Having never been to a WT event do they start with beginners stakes or end with them ??.

So if an event was over a weekend would the best dogs be on the sunday afternoon??
Or first on Saturday...

And as a spectator is ok to bring your own dog???

The best thing to do is to ring the trial secretary who can tell you which stakes are running over which days.

Opens will have the whole stake done in one day often under two judges, one for the nosework for the individual stake and one for the C & A for all the stakes. But in some trials one judge does it all. It depends on the number of entries and availability of land and equipment.

In Championship trials, the top stakes (PD or TD) do all the tracking during the week and have the C & A on the Saturday or Sunday.

The other stakes are generally "all work in one day"

So if you wanted to watch a Championship TD or PD trial, that finished on a Sunday, I would go on the Saturday to watch some tracking and then the Sunday to watch ALL the qualifiers compete for the ticket in the C & A (and patrol round in the case of PD).

Oh, and as for taking your dog. NO dog will be allowed on the tracking grounds if you are a spectator, and if you wish to bring a dog with you to watch the C & A you will need to ensure it is of sufficient temperament not to interfere with competing dogs and you should DEFINITELY ask the Trials Secretary if you can bring it (out of the car and near the C & A field) BEFORE hand.

You may need to register yourself and the dog in case of any "incidents" though not all trial societies require this.
