Met a guy at a village fete once with pockets full of baby ones (he called them Polecats?!!) and got a chance at a cuddle. i think i get what you say and it does sound perfect,they love dark places,one of mine lived under the bathroom floor for a few days once!
re the biting,there are warning signs,only as kits did mine bite,try thinking of him as a short sighted kitten.

Was thinking the bottom bit I can fill full of hay nice and cosy..(of course I could run electric from Alex' shed and put a heat mat in!!!!) and put the toilet tray in the hutch bit..put half a tree in so he can climb up that and into the hutch bit..

i used to use a microwavable disc (snugglepets?) that they could snuggle up to,it lasted years.i think he could destroy a heat mat in minutes with his claws.

looking at the photo of cj's feet and him running round, if he was gona have a chew, them toes would have got it.
