Working Trial Dumbell

Hi,

Where do you buy your working trial dumbbells?
I want a slightly heavier dumbbell fir my retreive,as she mouths the thinner lighter dumbbells.

We just use the same plastic one we have had for a while and pass it on from dog to dog, originally bought from crufts.
I did purchase a couple of wooden ones off the internet for my new pup, but have gone back to the old faithful.
The schutzhund dumbells are heavier, but don't often see them used in trials.

Mouthing has nothing to do with the size or weight of your dumbell, that is just training or lack of.

I will disagree with you on that one Smokey.
While I don't think it will cure 90% of problems I'm sure this will cure mine.
I tried a friends dumbbell which is as old as time with weighted ends and what seems like a tree trunk in the middle, she loved it no mouthing at all.
I used my little plastic one and she mouthed it, the only issue is I can't have the weighted one and can't find a place that makes them nobody really uses except for a few people and they got their dumbbells years ago.
Looks like I will have to build my own, to get the right size and shape she requires.

Thank you for your input every one.

Only if you compete at obedience shows.
That's why I was asking on here as most of the obedience ones are a little light.
While I have considered trying working trials I would rather just focus on one sport.

Managed to find what I was looking for on Amazon by a company called Trixie.
My dogs retrieve has improved dramatically, I think she prefers the thicker mouth part and the weight.
Will see what happens at our next show, fingers crossed.

The test was interesting, the new dumbbell was fine indoors but was nit suitable in the longer grass.
I have taken amongst others, Smokeys advice and just retrained her on a normal obedience style one.
That's my winter training project.
Thank you for looking at this thread and your advice.
