Reaction to Aludex? Anyone had this?

Hi everyone,

I started Demi with her Aludex baths yesterday afternoon, late last night she was sick and really not herself. This morning her eyes were swollen and bulging, her skin started to swell up and her skin was oozing

I rang the vets and spoke to the nurse, as I was worried this wasn't right. The nurse told me if she kept her dinner down she would be fine, I carried on watching her throughout the day but just wasn't happy, I'm not impressed with the vets anyway to be honest, 2 wrong choices on medication and now this in 3 weeks.

So I registered with a new vets and took her down, by this point I'm worried sick. The vet admitted he hadn't seen a reaction to Aludex before but he's put her on antibiotics cause her sores are weeping and he thinks there infected.

I washed the Aludex off her before I took her to the new vets, I couldn't bear to watch her like it anymore. So she's now on antibiotics and the vet is ringing the skin specialists at animal health trust tomorrow to find out what the next course of action is. It may be she needs oral medication instead.

Has anyone else had this?

Oh your poor dog and you must be beside yourself with worry. I'd be feeling so bad that I might have put something on my dog that caused it.

But even if it does turn out to be the Aludex how were you to know?

I'd have done the same exactly as you have and I hope one good thing that comes out of this is that you have landed with a better vet or at least one you've got some confidence in.

I hope your dog gets better soon.

She has been through so much and she looks so sore, on the plus side since I washed it off the swelling on her eyes have gone down drastically. All we can do now is wait to here back from the vet tomorrow afternoon. The previous vets really wasn't in for the animals it's all about the money. This vet already seems so much better. He admitted he wasn't sure what the best thing to do was so said he would speak with the specialists tomorrow whereas my last vets were just trying everything and poor demi was getting worse with everything they threw at her

At least he admitted he didn't know how to treat her and is going to find out. At least you're sure of getting expert advice.
