I would imagine as long as you followed the instructions carefully you could manage this yourself
Just hate the thought you may get ripped off
My vet would happily.allow us to do this our selves
However if you don't feel capable and can afford it ,sounds to me your vet has somewhat tied your hands re treatment
I'd still push the issue that your more than capable to do this yourself
Am now waiting for the vet to call me back, I'm going to ask if they can just give me the aludex to do it myself. Your absolutely right it's extortionate prices to bath and if it was a one off I wouldn't mind but every week for 6 weeks that's a lot of money when I may be able to do it myself.

I'll let you know what they say

I've just spoke to the vet she said I can do it myself but there is a form I need to sign so I've got to go down tomorrow to collect the aludex and sign the paperwork.
Xena can't be treated unless she has a skin scrape saying she has demodex which at the minute isn't needed.
For 6 weeks treatment it's just under £180 but if they had done the baths it would of been 480 so thank you guys you just saved me £300

Thank you, just shows my vets are all out for the money. That's 2 wrong diagnoses in 2 weeks and not giving me the option to deal with my dogs myself

Thank you dogsey members

Well done for standing up to your vet, we expect them to know what they are doing, are doing their best to help our pets and not just trying to get as much money out of us as they can.

I would also start looking at other vets, talk to people to see what they are like etc.

Hi there, I don't know if you still want a natural remedy for this.

If you do I treated my old rough with a combination of lemon juice and vasaline.

Sorry, baths are a toxic, outdated, method of treating demodex. I would never dip my dogs.

I have treated Mange (both demodex and sarcoptic) in literally hundreds of puppies when I rescued off of First Nations reserves.

Revolution, or Ivermectin and immune system boosting foods and herbal remedies, no vaccinations until well on the mend. No steroids, no dips, and often, no meds (I've cured several with a raw diet and immune boosting natural remedies) I think it's funny, how you all in the UK are so ahead of us, in so many ways, in regards to dogs, training, and humane treatment, but the way you treat Demodex makes me cringe... alot of unnecessary, dangerous toxins.
