Sending a dog on

What is the best way to teach a dog to go ahead through the weaves.
My dog weaves lovely but only if I am at his side, I need to get him to go on but not sure how to achieve this.

With my two I started close to them and gradually moved slightly away from them to the side but not ahead i just did little by little and as the dogs confidence grew i would slowly increase the distance with little steps nothing too obvious to the dog! then gradually i would start to hang back slightly so the dog has to be independant. now both my dogs dont mind whether i hold back or run ahead.

I taught mine by throwing the ball on as they come out of the weaves, your timing has to be just right because if they see you getting the ball out or throwing it before they've finished they can come out of the weaves.
