Thanks Tumble, I have made sure that my box has been left unticked.

Just a funny little tale....... my hubby who is totally computer unsavvy was a builder and frequently dealt with a local double glazing firm.
One day I got one of these calls from a very Indian sounding man, telling me I had problems with windows and he could fix it. I must have been having a very off day because I was shouting and threatening him with all sorts of dire consequences.
When I put the phone down hubby was stood looking aghast, saying " Jenn I have got some windows on order" It took a long time to convince him that we weren't talking about the same sort of windows

Had many calls like this... have told them also to not call me again and had sometimes a call every 2 days... not had any now for about 3 weeks so maybe they finally got the message. :P

Thanks for the warning!
I am so frustrated about the amount of scam calls I get over the work phones and my personal phone.
Just yesterday I had someone ring up (with a very strong accent, it was clear that he was reading from a screen) saying we're due an upgrade on the phone. He said he's ringing from 'The Phone Shop' and asked me questions like the name of the account holder, how much we're spending per month on the phone and what handset we currently use.
I know we're not yet due an update for at least 9 months so I didn't answer any of the questions and hung up in the end.
I hate the fact that they get away with this and manage to scam money off people who aren't as suspicious as me.
I had someone ring the work landline 4 times in 2 hours, telling me each time that he's rang about the car accident we recently had, which wasn't true.

Also beware of fake companies ringing up and asking for your details to 'verify' you're the 'account holder'. Don't give them details unless you know the number and you know you have an account with them and they can tell you details about yourself!
They will ask you your name, date of birth, address and maybe even credit card number.
Ruthless people and companies will sadly try anything to get their hands on money

Watch out for companies saying they are acting on behalf of, ie BT. They are not and the easiest way to catch them out is as for the account number you have with that company. They won't have it, then you can start having fun messing them about pretending to not understand etc
