Relationships and transplants

What are your thoughts on having a relationship with someone who has had a kidney transplant (though no fault of their own), who is fine now and works full time?

Would it put you off? Or would you not let it bother you?

Thanks for any opinions on this.

If they were a nice person it wouldn't bother me at all. My OH has spina bifida and many medical problems but it doesn't change his personality.

I don't know why it would put anyone off if you liked the person?

Nope, it would make not one iota of difference to me! It's the 'person' who you like, not the bits that make them up!

my uncle had a kidney transplant.....and my best friend had to have a malfunctioning kidney removed at an early age....I cant see how it would affect a relationship with the person.....unless you are looking at it from a reproduction point of view and any hereditary illness that may be an issue.......

Thanks for your opinions, folks.

My main concern is life expectancy. That's what worries me most. And yes, I know that you never know what's round the corner and anyone could die tomorrow.

You're giving it too much thought. Just go for it. I always think that my OH is looked after much better than me, he gets regular kidney scans to check for any deteriation. Nobody's ever looked at mine they could pack up tomorrow!!!

Hon, I think you are looking for problems
Enjoy yourself, we don know what is around the corner for any of us
Anyway with my track record I realy dont see me getting into old age with someone - if I liked them now then I would go for it and worry when I needed to

Do you not get a dog because they are most likely to die before you?
