Well yesterday we had a labrador bitch brought to the kennels for mating, she is sandyland lines, she is stunning, a real gorgeous girl! I was going to get some labs when i move, to start my breeding/showing, but thats in like 4 years, i dont know what to do, i really really want a leonberger, but also i know this labrador mating is too good to miss!!

So what do i do!!!???

Gosh gems is Gwen B still around? A knew her from my showing days and often stood next to her in gundog group. 'Sandylands' have an excellent reputation, her Labs were lovely so if you are going for that line it would be a great choice. You may have to make the hard decision of which breed you prefer

I sure you wil be happy with wichever breed you choose Gems and you will get huge enjoyment..it is all very exciting Knowing you a little I guess you have read up on both breeds, I know absolutly nothing about Leos or what they were bred for, remember each breed has differing characteristics due to the specific purpose for which they are bred, perhaps one of the two breeds will be more suited to your personality?

Gems as u already have labs why not try a different breed while u have the chance. U never know in 4 years time an even better labrador mating could take place

You make a good point nae, i think what im going to do is email the leo breeder tonight and find out whats happening, if things havent gone to plan, i think ill go for a lab pup from this mating, i will then try again for a leo when pup is 6/7 months.

Thanks for the advice!

Ah Gems, What are we going to do with you ?

You have labs now, and love them.

I say get the leo, and see how it compares.

Then when you are ready to breed, you might have made up your mind.

If not you might have to breed both..

Ash...
