The King's Speech

All the hype & the fuss & the awards............. has anybody seen it yet?
Well I have & I also watched the true story documentary on Channel 4 last week to compare.
One of the best films I've seen in a long time & awards well deserved.
Colin Firth really had it to a t in all the mannerisms etc.. brilliant acting.

A friend asked me to go and I wasn`t expecting much but found it wonderful. I`m not at all surprised it`s up for awards. One of those films where you are completely swept up in the story.

It won all the awards.

I agree, brilliant film. Anything with Colin in is bonus though.

I watched the film first, then the documentary. I think he got it very right with the mannerisms, etc. I really enjoyed the story. I did find it very incomfortable watching the stuttering though. It brought back painful memories for me as I had to have speech therapy as a young teenager due to a long-term childhood stammer. I obviously didn't have to talk to a whole country or stadium, but it feels just as bad sometimes.
I think the film regardless of it's royal story is a great way to raise awareness of what it's like living with a speech impediment. I wish it had been around when I was at my worst so people would have understood - and I wish I had a speech therapist like him!
