Rio was from south Wales, a four and half hour trip from us if you don't have breaks. We stayed in a hotel overnight and it took seven hours to get home with her! If I was getting another Estrela, I would definitely go back to the same breeder. Rio is a lovely pup, and so calm. I would travel anywhere for the right dog.

Wow! To get Kali and Snorri, I must have travelled a whole 30 miles (3 whole islands' worth!). I may have to go as far as 40 for Snorri's successor, though.

Unfortunately, ferry timings make Mainland pups a no-no

I feel very lucky in that if I wanted another pup I would find it hard to not go to the same breeder or the breeder of our dog's dad...who is even closer to us!

Well Inca came from Colchester, about 30mins away, and Tonto came from Bungay, a wee bit further.

However, when I wanted a Griffon and if it was easier to import I would've gone to Belgium as Charlie suggested. As said before, if it's the right dog distance wouldn't be a problem.

We did a 184 mile round trip for Ella and 264 round trip for Roux, as he was at a foster home.

It's all about the dog not the distance, so for the right dog no distance is too great for me.

The furthest I've travelled is Derbyshire, which was about a six hour round-trip (for my Chocolate Longcoat). Three of mine I got from East Sussex, which is a four hour round-trip. One from Suffolk, again about 4 hours round-trip and Pebbles was from Essex.

There are some local Chi breeders but not for me.

As far as was necessary to get my choice of lines etc.
We travelled from South West Scotland to South Wales to pick up Pellow and we were fortunate that with the dachies we only had to go as far as Comrie in Perthshire.
