Rachael and her beautiful family have come to us from Limerick Animal Welfare.

Rachael is a beautiful collie who came into rescue care with her seven puppies. Rachael must be one of the smartest dogs we know.

LAW got a call from a lady telling them that she had seen puppies coming out of a ditch at the back of her brothers house.

LAW were amazed when they went to rescue Rachael and her pups. She had obviously dug a hole in the ground and gave birth to her pups there. The hole was under a ditch like a big nest, and it was so cleverly dug out by Rachael that her pups were protected from the elements.

LAW had to climb down rocks to reach the pups. A few feet from their little home was a huge drop. If the pups fell down here they would have been killed. How Rachael kept her little family safe and together we will never know.

The pups, six boys and one girl are beautiful pups.

They are very healthy, Rachael was the best mother imaginable to raise her pups under such circumstances. Rachael was very thin. When the lady discovered Rachael she started to feed her and the pups. Rachael had at this stage all the hard work done. She must have foraged for food.

Rachael was initially nervous of her rescuers, but after few minutes she was the volunteers best friend.

What long and lonely nights Rachael must have endured trying to keep her pups alive.

The pups are border collies and very smart just like their mum. As the volunteers were organizing getting them into our cars they watched intensely , they knew changes were ahead.

Rachael is such a special girl and her pups are very special too. Now they all need very special homes.
