Butterflies.

I love butterflies and dragon flies but unfortunately as of yet have not seen a dragon fly in the garden but we do have lots of butterflies.
I thought I would share. I took these Wednesday and Thursday.

















No butterflies just a picture of the top of the garden on a sunny day.



And of course Dillon.

Newly emerged peacock butterflies.. utterly lovely Lynn. D you have nettles? They dwell on these.

Not seen these here yet this year but a glorious Red Admiral the other day sat by me showing off

I do leave some nettles for them yes.

I thought we had a lot in our garden, but you've got 3 all together there Lynn. I also thought they were red admirals I get them coming into the conservatory a lot when I have the door open, but they easily seem to find their way out, unlike the beas who seem to get stuck in there in a panic, so they need a little help.

Here in the woods, there is one field which is left as a meadow, because it's a nature reserve, but some days as I walk between the long grass the whole sides erupt with the most fantastic display of butterflies, but they're small, brown ones. I must take a pic one day, cos there's also a big oak in there clinging onto the side of a steep ravine that I need to get a picture of.

I often wonder what butterflies actually "do" if you know what I mean?

The ones with the large circle on their wings are the Peacock butterflies. Their wings look like the feathers on a Peacock's wings.
I think you have got a couple of Red Admiral there too.
The last two are " Lesser spotted gorgeousus Dillons"

Nippy Jen. We seem to get a lot Peacocks and cabbage whites but they will not stay still very long. We have had a couple of red admirals too. Them and the peacocks stay on the tree for so long and you can get so close to watch them.

We've got lots of butterflies too, plus bees and crickets. It's lovely.
