Louie recalled from a bitch in heat.

Missed this out of my blog entry.

Well as the title says he recalled from a teenager's offlead bitch in heat, he'd got off the lead whilst out with the OH this morning - stupid clips aren't made properly these days, anyway he recalled from her to my OH then before OH had the chance to get the leash sorted (he had Benjie - going mental at this other dog) Louie headed straight to the water after ducks.

Well I suppose I should think it was best that he thinks more of ducks than bitches in heat... he can't get ducks pregnant.

Well done.

The teenager asked if they were boys and told my OH she was in season. Keep her on the lead then would've been my words to him if I was there.

Oh give over - Louie's quackers enough as it is plus it'd be strange to have what is prey/retrieval item to him to be mixed. ESS x lab x Mallard

I expect the bitch was not in FULL season, plus that added to your dog's age and inexperience was in your favour (and the owner of the bitch)

This is true.

I've only ever had male dogs that were interested in bitches when they were ovulating in the mid part of the season.

And of course the owners may use this as a ploy.................... a bit like when I have said my dogs were suffering from something contagious!
