Sturdy collar with plastic clip

I've been thinking it's probably time to get Cain a new collar. He's had his current one for over a year and although it's been holding up well, considering the amount of lunging and pulling he's done over the last year (much less now I might add!!) I thought he's probably put a lot of strain on the plastic clip. It was just a cheap one from Pets at Home and while it looks fine in condition, I'm worried he might have weakened it and it might snap. So I figured now he's much calmer, might be a good idea to treat him to a shiny new collar.

I'd like one with a strong plastic clip. I take his collar off around the house as it covered up his DAP collar so I don't want to muck about with a metal buckle. Can anyone recommend a good sturdy collar?

I'm looking at the Red Dingo ones, he has their ID tags which seem good quality.

Can't help much - I hate plastic clips they've failed so many times.

Maybe a word with the people at pets at home or in a local pet shop could help you. I did a google search for you quick but they only come up with the little tartan terrier collar things even when I type in Large dog

I've used the Rogz ones before and the large ones come with a lock on the buckle.

Take a look at the ezydog collars ..

Rogz here too, never had a clip break. Strong powerful dogs here too.

Lupine and Ezydog are 2 strong collars that have stood up to boxers use here

Dex has an EzyDog collar - it's the most robust I have found and they look rather good too

They also now do extra wide ones for big, strong dogs

*I do not recommend their leads however, the one I had came unclipped from my dog twice!



My dog lunges too; when I don't use a headcollar, I have two collars on him - the EzyDog and also a part check collar; I attach the lead to the latter and it really helps. Just a thought, you've probably tried that already

I am a fan of Dublin waterproof collars as they do not need washing, do not smell or harbour mites etc, but they only come with buckles................

The boys have Rogz here.... they are ragged on by each other, and both boys are strong pullers, and we've never had the plastic clips break or open randomly.

Another Rogz fan here too. Mine have always had Rogz collars & leads & I've never had a problem with the clips. You can lock them. They wash really well (I put them in an old pillow case in the washing machine). The only reason I got new ones was because I got bored with the old ones & fancied a change.

I also fancy trying the Lupine ones too as they have some lovely designs.
