I don't find that unusual but then I've been round collies for over 35 years. He has a kind face. Can I ask what his pedigree line is. Always interesting.

Many dogs of this particular colour and patterning are related way back to a dog called Gilchrist's Spot. Although most of the pups that ours fathered were a standard tri-colour there were just one or two threw white like Spot.
The huge variety of shapes and sizes, particularly in working collies always amazes me, but the colour never seems to affect their working capabilities. With of course the old belief that sheep won't move from a white dog as well as they do from a predominantly b/w or tri-colored one!
I am not really sure that this is true - but it is a belief held by many.

He is a rescue. I reared him from 4 weeks old. All i know is his mum was a farm collie that got caught in her first season.
