Trip to Orkney

I finally made it to Orkney and seemed to have picked a good day. Plenty of blue sky and nice beaches.

That is stunning Carole, whats the weather like, it looks really warm and sunny there with the beach, but looks can be deceptive. How long did it take you to get there.

It was about 14 degrees so nice enough for walking around in. As for time it was about 4 hours from Inverness to Orkney and that was including a 40 minute ferry.

There had been orcas spotted last month but unfortunately we did not see any whales or dolphins but did see some puffins.

Stunning photos!

My DIL's family come from Scotland and Orkney is one of the favourite places to spend their holidays. Last year my DIL also spent a couple of weeks on Egg, where a friend of hers runs a yacht charter company and in winter lives in a croft!

I would love to stay for holiday up there. Hopefully will make it up again soon for a week or so. The Western Isles are nice too and another place I want to visit.
