Maggie Thatcher in charge. Who remembers what?

I remember

No apprenticeships when I left school.

3 million on the dole

miners striking

interest rates up to 15.4%

selling council houses, not buidling new ones.

and thats just a start

I believe that tory government nearly brought this country to its knees and thats is why I would never vote conservative in my lifetime...ever ever ever.

Maggie Thatcher did a lot of harm to the peoples of Britain. She was arrogant, bossy and some would say had megalomaniac tendencies. She would not listen to anyone else's opinion or advice and she was one of the most patronising women ever to be in politics. I was so disappointed with our first woman Prime Minister.

Agree.

She was an obnoxious, nasty, vile creature. Hope we don't ever get anyone like her again.

What you both said. Couldn't stand the woman. She did no good for this country. The green wellie brigade did well out of her era. Those who already had money and made loads more.

I remember her! Not very fondly! I am sure there must of been some that benefited though!

I remember the vendetta against `single mothers`. I was apparently one as my husband had left me to bring up our 3 small children. Life was a constant round of obtrusive personal questions, snoopers and contempt.
