If you simply observe the dogs behaviour and are aware of the wind direction there should be no problem, this is often done with snake avoidance.

Note the dogs reaction, it does a 180 and goes the other way.

Fact is my e collar/aversive discussion is restricted to those threads about e collars/aversives. If you dislike it don't read the thread.

Btw anyone who doubts the effectiveness of this training should watch that vid.

*sigh* watched the vid and yes the dog turned on a sixpence BUT (regardless of the fact it was trained to avoid snakes) what that clip tells me is that the "zaps" it received must have been VERY painful to have gained such an immediate, fearful and panicked reaction
