I'm pleased to say that like many others I'm sure, I do that.

I sit and lay on the floor with my Mick, stroke him, kiss his head and his snout, tell him that I love him and that he has ALWAYS been a good boy.

The last words I ever said to my late husband were " I love you" and when Mick's time comes, (not yet though, please God) I want him to know in his "doggy mind" how much he has been loved and cherished too.

I am guilt-tripping, for all the precious minutes when I have been too 'busy' for a little eye-staring - and yet - yes that was what I wanted when I chose my puppy - a soul-mate, companion.
