We use plastic bags when we go shopping once a fortnight, but i use my bags in the kitchen bin instead of buying them from the shop.

Is there anyone on here that uses something different in there bins?

I try to use proper bags for shopping but not always practical, however think its best if we all go back to the good aod days of owning a real shopping bag for smaller purchases, not sure yet about large shops though as difficult coping without plastic bags, best if we do though

We use them in our bin for the rubbish.....What do others put their rubbish in?

Our dog poo bags are bio-degradable.

As our council will only collect bags (not from bins) we use bio-degradable bin bags for anything that can't be recycled. For recyclable rubbish the council provide bright orange bags made from recycled plastic.

We use our own large bags and get extra points from Tesco's for doing so got to ask for them sometimes as the checkout operator doesn't always put them on.

Before that we used to use approx 8 - 10 plastic bags for the weekly shop.
I think that the supermarkets should charge for the plastic bags just doing this will cut the amount of bags used, and encourage the use of reusable bags & also go back to area where they stored the old boxes for your shopping for you to use and recycle when you get home.

To the oldies amongst us I am sure that once upon a time, long, long ago, we used to be charged if we needed a plastic carrier bag in the shops.
I can remember people mumbling "I'm not paying 2d (or what ever) to advertise their names on bags I'm carrying" People used to turn the bags inside out.
Now, I know I am an old relic, I am sure I didn't dream this.
Someone back me up please.

I use my backpack cause usually I'm up the street for a few things that weigh a ton to carry back. Don't have a car, and I'm usually walking or on the bike. Just started that within the last year and still have breeding plastic bags, despite using them for poo collecting.
