Elaine. rehelping chick

did not want to say more as was not sure how experienced you are!

probably too late now but here goes...

chicks get exhausted and someimes die trying to get out.

find which end is head; if there is even a tiny crack, that will be head end.

remember eggs are not all laid on the same day,
hence the time lag.

if there is a tiny crack or if you can hear the tapping, edge a tiny bit of shell off to let the chick breathe. they work in a rhythm like any birth... work then draw breath.

once you see the beak, the rest is easier; opening the wrong end is disastrous as there may still be blood.

just read more of thread. where the blood is is its bottom so the beak is the other end

then very gently peel a little shell back each time the chick pushes. it will do the rest.

done this countless times but the first was nerve wracking.

Thank you so much for that, but didn't see it till now, it is now delivered and at this time alive, I have mentioned it on the daily.

I have no experience as the broodies usually do a decent job, but Google was a great friend in the night xx
