Not been on for awhile but wanted to update

Hi guys sorry havent been on here for ages, life gets busy and time flies, those of you who know me from before will remember my tail of the dingodog well i stillhave him and he is here to stay, i invested too much in saving his life that i couldnt really rehome him i have just taken in a husky pup, he was sold at 5wks and the new owner brought him in at 6wks for a check where we tell him his pup is blind, he took him home contacted the breeder who refused to talk to him so he brought him back in to be put to sleep and well there was no way we were gonna do that! Ive had him 2wks he has trebled in size and dingo is his best mate which is a smack in the face to anyone who says fighting dogs cant be rehabilitated, i am taking the pup to see an eye specialist in the new year to see is surgery can correct the vision or if it is permanant, the breeder originally said the mother attacked the pups at birth and they were injured so were all handreared and the vision has improved abit since he has been with me so fingers crossed !

One of my puppy owners (she has Keshi's brother) came to me specifically because my puppies are all litter eye screened for MRD as it is in both huskies and malamutes. She bought a puppy a few years ago, got him home and he was blind, contacted the breeder who said she was going on holiday, didn't have time for this, and he could see when he left her. By then she had seen an eye specialist with him and knew already he was born blind because of MRD, poor dog also has hip and elbow displacia, all because the breeder couldn't be @rsed to health check her breeding stock. He is living as normal a life as is possible under the circumstances. They did take her to court and won their case, but straight away I am wondering if perhaps this is the problem the pup has. I find it hard to believe the 'breeders' story, then again I'm naturally suspicious of any of this type of tale.

Me too i think he has congenital cataracts and is badly bred, he is an independant soul who is happy with my 5 dogs, i may keep him or if a home comes forward i will rehome him i just want to be able to give him the best chance, when he first arrived he was withdrawn and quiet but now he has a personality and is a little star, he keeps dingo amused for hours which my other dogs like cos they are all older now and want a quiet life

Thank you dingo surprises me everyday with his behaviour, he is such a honest dog who had his first 8mths of life a living hell, he is a big dog now and has put on 10kgs, he is unrecognisable from that dog that came in dying

I know the lady who has Keshi's brother does everything to ensure her Mal leads as normal a possible life, and if you saw him with her other dogs you would have absolutely no idea he can't see, as he's never been able to see its not a big deal to him anway. Just a dreadful shame that people carry on breeding like this and the true victims are the puppies, who are disposed of without a thought once it is obvious there is something seriously wrong. At least he is in a good place and life can only improve for him now. You're going to need an experienced husky home for him, most people have no idea that it is unwise to let them offlead for instance. I will speak to the lady with Keshi's brother and see if she can come up with any ideas.

Its sickening isn't it, and they'll carry on doing what they're doing, saying 'they're our pets first and foremost so we don't need to health test' er why are you breeding then if they are pets first, and they have no answer to that one. I will ask around for you, and keep him in mind. Best to find out what the exact situation is and if there is anything that can be done. I wouldn't be surprised to hear its MRD though, I really hope its not, but the state of some so-called 'husky's' that I see are appalling, tiny little dogs, nothing like the true husky and people have no idea what they are buying at all. There's so many in rescue its nearly as bad as the situation with Staffies from what the dog warden was telling me a while ago.
