You just need to start with a reasonable walk, tbh 10 minutes wouldn't even get me around the block but you can't just straight off with 10 miles a day you'd do more harm than good. If she can handle fairly short walks for a week, double it for the second week and so on. If she's not used to walking she'll need to build up her muscles and stamina gradually. Don't be tempted to rush it or you risk taking a huge step backwards. I can't see breed is relevant but the state of her health is.

I agree. That's why I didn't suggest it.

Also you might find different protein sources get the weight off quicker. One of My Dobermanns had a bit of weight to lose after spaying but no matter how little we fed and how much we exercised it refused to budge. We then swapped to a fish based food and she dropped the weight. We later changed to Raw feeding and her weight was so much easier to control as we knew exactly what the ingredients were with no fillers.

Has she always been overweight or just over the past year or so? If the latter its worth asking your vet to check her thyroid levels. If she has thyroid issues no amount of exercise is going to work.

Forget about average weights as each dog is individual - particularly crosses.

She should have a visible waist and you should be able to just feel her ribs with gentle pressure. If she has both of those, she's doing well

Yeah sight and touch are the best ways to tell if your dog is overweight or not, bearing in mind some dogs are by design supposed to be thinner than others. When viewed from above you should be able to see a waist in front of the hips. When feeling for ribs you shouldn't be able to play a tune on them but should be able to feel them. Good luck, hope it all goes well.
