Do you think dogs or bitches do better in shows and why?

A converation I had before made me think about this. Im going to use crufts as an example as this is the show everyone knows and simplify using the groups.

Results-
Best in Show = 2011 - Dog, 2010 - Dog

Best in group
Gundog = 2011 - Dog, 2010 - Dog
Hound = 2011 - Bitch, 2010 - Dog
Pastoral = 2011 Dog, 2010 - Bitch
Terrier = 2011 - Dog, 2010 - Dog
Toy = 2011 - Dog, 2010 - Dog
Utility = 2011 - Dog, 2010 - Bitch
Working = 2011 -Dog, 2010 - Dog

As you can see dogs have had a lot more sucesses than bitches. My question is to those of you that show would you consider this to be the norm? And why do think this is???

I agree that often the best in breed tends to sway to the male not 100% but as a % I would say the male gets it.

Females can be inhibited by seasons, hormonal surges and loss of coat when this happens.

The best bitch, certainly in the breeds I saw tends to have had to beat more as there tends to be more bitches entered than dogs.

But a really good male is a fantastic sight to see.

Honest it happens but no idea why.

As a note the best in breed at Crufts 2011 Lakelands was a bitch and the best in breed for Staffords was a bitch.

The Stafford Bitch got group 3 or 4 I think, a fantastic achievement.

At WKC last weekend the best in breed Lakeland was a bitch, a different one to the Crufts one and the best in breed SBT was a bitch, different one to the Crufts one and the SBT got group 3.

So don't worry about showing a bitch.

At a breed show I often think the bitches have more quality in depth & on average get more Best of Breeds, but in an all breed show under a non breed specialist I find they tend to favour the males.

I have noticed the males seem to tip the girls in the ring, i have also noticed the males once mature seem less moody in the ring and more steady. Girls get wound up by the boys, hormones or seem to be a bit more tempremental then the lads.

This is simpley based on my observations of showing males though.
